NEW BEDFORD — A person has been injured in a stabbing incident in New Bedford on Tuesday night, according to the city police department.

New Bedford Police wrote in a Facebook post just before 10 p.m. Tuesday that officers and detectives were investigating a stabbing incident in the area of Linden and County Streets.

The victim's injuries are not thought to be life threatening, police said.

Last night members of the public were asked to stay away from the area while detectives investigate.

Police did not identify the victim or a suspect, and no further details were disclosed.

The investigation is ongoing.
