With August approaching, shark sighting off of Cape Cod are expected to increase. The research vessel Ocearch is docked in New Bedford preparing to embark on it's 17th expedition studying sharks.

Past expeditions has taken the Ocearch  off the coast of Mexico to off the coast of Africa.

This expedition will take the crew off the coast of Cape Cod where they will be catching sharks from Wednesday at dawn and will conclude just before Labor Day or if they tag 20 sharks, whichever comes first.

Ocearch founder Chris Fisher says the data collected will be beneficial to many communities from the science community to the everyday beach goers.

If anyone wants to follow the expedition they can do so at www.ocearch.org. The website allows viewers to watch live streams as well as track sharks that have been tagged.
