A team of Northeastern University engineering students this week presented their future vision of Padanaram Village to members of the Dartmouth Select Board.

The students found that creating select one-way streets would make room for wider sidewalks and improved parking in the village. The changes would make way for 245 parking spots in the village, along with a safer and more enjoyable experience for pedestrians.

One feature that impressed Select Board Chairman, Shawn McDonald, was the idea of a round-about at the five-way intersection near St. Mary's Church.

McDonald said of the rotary, "That is probably one of the best ideas I've ever seen come out of any consultant going for this town."

The team estimated the cost of the entire project to be around $2.5 million.

They said the changes would help make Padanaram Village a destination for tourism and boost economic growth.
