Only one day into the 2015 NFL season and Patriot's fan are asking what they did to deserve this. What's the next step for the Pats?

Yesterday at 4pm EST was the beginning of the 2015 National Football League's season meaning contracts are finally up and free agency has begun. A flurry of mind blowing signings soon proceeded, and none of them seemed to include our New England Patriots. What was even more frightening was where these moves were actually taking place. The Super Bowl runner-up Seattle Seahawks got much more intimidating when they traded for the former New Orleans Saints' Tight End Jimmy Graham. This high energy player fits in perfect to the Seahawks play-style, and the faithful fans will surely accept this trade with open arms.

The free agency moves that should frighten us Patriots' fans the most is what's going on in our own division. It seems that the Dolphins, Bills, and Jets were tired of playing second fiddle to the Patriots over the past decade. The first big splash in the league came from Buffalo when they traded their young star Linebacker Kiko Alonso for 2013's Offensive Player of the Year LeSean McCoy. Miami's defense is starting to look even more intimidating with their pick up of Defensive Tackle Ndamukong Suh for the next six seasons. Suh has been established as a dirty player, being named 2012's Least-Liked Player in the NFL. But nothing was more tragic to our Patriots than to see Cornerback Darrelle Revis leaving New England to go in conference to our rival New York Jets, making him the highest paid player in his position's history. The Jet's weren't finished, signing former Bear's Wide Receiver (and a killer fantasy football player) Brandon Marshall.

Without Revis, Patriot's fans are starting to question what the next step is for our reigning Super Bowl champions. The Patriots are also going to start next season without Running Back Shane Vereen, as he signs a contract with the New York Giants. The Patriots chose to not restructure deals with Nose Tackle Vince Wilfork and Cornerback Brandon Browner, among others, leaving these players open to sign with any team of their choosing. With all of these moves happening around the Patriots, we have to expect some big signings within the next week. Here's a couple hypothetical moves that could help New England come the 2015 season.

Percy Harvin, the former Seahawk and Jet, is a great outside threat that would fit great with the Patriots' offense. His speed on the outside will help spread the defense apart for Tom Brady's other options on the field. The Patriots offense has been missing this outside deep threat since the days of Randy Moss. With the loss of Vereen, it seems only logical that the Patriots seek Reggie Bush. Bush is a great receiving Running Back, most believe he would be a upgrade at the position. Defensively the Patriots have to pursue a lock down Cornerback such as Tramon Williams, formally of the Green Bay Packers. With the losses of Revis and Browner it seems our defense is once again our weak point. If Williams doesn't work out the Patriots must go after the former Jet and Charger  Antonio Cromartie before he gets seduced to joining his former backfield teammate Revis in New York.

It's only a day into free agency and to be honest, I'm afraid. Everyone around us is getting stronger in areas that aren't friendly to the home town team. Lock down defense in New York, an amazing runner joins the team in Buffalo, and the intimidating defensive line in Miami just got nastier. Around the league everyone seems to be making strides to push for the playoffs. But in times of darkness we in New England just have to look ourselves in the mirror and calmly say, "In Bill We Trust".
