A story in the Presidents Day edition of the New York Times shows the wreckage, both financial and human, from illegal immigration to the United States.

The actions of one illegal alien in the United States resulted in the death of two American children and serious injury to other Americans. There is no question the illegal alien is at fault for this death and destruction.

According to the Times, Haya Konte was born in France and raised in The Gambia, a small West African country. In 2012, at the age of 23, Ms. Konte entered the United States and "found work as an on-call hair braider in salons."

She hooked up with a taxi cab driver she had met online and soon she was a pregnant, married illegal alien living in the Bronx section of New York City.

On April 13, 2016, Haya Konte had two children and a husband and they were living in taxpayer-funded public housing in New York. She went out that night and left her two children home alone. Her husband was practicing his religion at a local mosque. Haya not only left the girls (ages two years and 18 months), she also left incense burning in the apartment.

While she was out doing laundry and picking up ice cream, her incense caught a couch on fire and her children, both Americans by birth, died in the fire. The fire in the public housing project injured 10 other people, including three New York City firefighters.

She was pregnant at the time and today she has given birth to a third daughter. Her husband has divorced her. She and her new child are living in a public shelter. She has pleaded guilty in the deaths of her two children and has agreed to leave the United States in exchange for getting no time in prison for the two counts of criminally negligent homicide.

She had a taxpayer-funded public defender and translator at her criminal hearings which have taken two years to negotiate.

She has cost the taxpayers of America untold amounts of money in addition to killing and injuring over a dozen Americans in the few years she has illegally lived in the United States.
