New Head of State Pier Voted Out

Less than a week after MassDevelopment took over management of State Pier in New Bedford, the longtime head of that organization is leaving.

State House News Service is reporting that Marty Jones, who was hired in April of 2011 under former Governor Deval Patrick, was voted out by Mass Development's Board of Directors Thursday.

The board voted 8-3 not to extend Jones, and she will leave the position after June 30, when her current contract expires.

The board will now conduct a search for Jones' replacement.
