It's several months away but the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament, better known as the Portuguese Feast or simply "The Feast," is scheduled to finally come back full-force after a couple of years and we need a headliner who will help us make up for lost time.

I don't know about you but I'm ready to scream at the top of my lungs and dance my butt off this summer. I'm counting down the days until we can finally get some Maderia wine and basically have a high school reunion on the feast grounds off Madeira Avenue.

Now, let's be real. We won't get Dua Lipa or David Carreira. Or can we?

I don't know what the budget is for this but I have a feeling that is probably not the biggest concern. Bringing a popular artist to the feast also means added security for the potential of a bigger crowd.

This got me thinking about what artists we had in the past: The Spin Doctors, Everclear and, most recently in 2019, Scott Stapp, lead singer from Creed. Now sure what any of these acts have to do with Portuguese heritage, but they all brought pretty decent crowds.

Thinking big for this year, I'd really love to see the Portugurese diva herself, Nelly Furtado, come. Imagine singing along to "Promiscuous" and "Say It Right."

Now that would be one memorable Feast and one that we all very much deserve.

I know the Feast coordinators are working on getting great entertainment for us yet again this year but I'm curious as to what you want to see.

I thought of a handful of potentials (call it my wishlist, if you will), that I hope we can get to come, if not this year then in the coming years.

We Need These Performers at the Portuguese Feast

Every year, the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament, also known as The Feast, has live entertainment and every year we wonder what these acts have to do with Portuguese culture, even though they're great. Here are some ideas of who we think would be a nice fit. Do you have any suggestions?
