There’s a luxury yacht that has docked at the Pope’s Island Marina in New Bedford, and although it appears it will only be here for a short time this winter, you can always rent it out when it returns to its home port.

The Aqua Azul is available for rental in New York City. It is available for weddings, corporate outings, and any other time a cruise around the harbor or down the Hudson River will make for an extra special event. It can accommodate up to 345 guests.

From what we’ve been told, the 120-foot, five-deck Aqua Azul is in New Bedford to have some renovations done on the interior of the ship.

The management at the Pope’s Island Marina declined to give us any details, citing that the marina wants to protect the privacy of its customers. However, we reached out to a former owner of the Aqua Azul to try to find out some of the backstory of the ship, and he mentioned he believed it may be relocating to Ohio.

We reached out through the Aqua Azul phone number and website to try to get more information, but have not yet heard back.

The owner of the Aqua Azul is Dorit Zeevi-Farrington, an Israeli-born woman who started her company, Manhattan Steamboat, along with her husband Michael Farrington shortly after 9/11. She purchased the Aqua Azul after losing her second yacht in Superstorm Sandy.

The Aqua Azul has 16 reviews on Yelp with an overall rating of five stars. Almost all the reviews praise Zeevi-Farrington and her staff for their professionalism and attention to detail.
