New Bedford Woman Killed in Dartmouth Crash
DARTMOUTH — A fatal single-vehicle crash on I-195 in Dartmouth on Sunday night ended with one dead and two others injured, one critically.
State police said troopers and emergency crews responded to the crash on Route 195 westbound in Dartmouth shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday.
One passenger, 63-year-old New Bedford resident Eleanor Estrella, was found dead at the scene.
The two surviving victims were taken to St. Luke's Hospital.
State police said the 25-year-old driver, also a New Bedford woman, is in critical condition.
The other passenger, a 17-year-old New Bedford girl, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation shows that the three were driving westbound in a rented Jeep Cherokee when it went off the road onto the median and struck a tree, according to state police.
It is currently unclear what caused the vehicle to go off the road.
The investigation is ongoing, state police said.
No further details are being released.
