New Bedford Woman Killed in Crash on I-195 in Mattapoisett
MATTAPOISETT - Shortly before 8 a.m. today Massachusetts State Troopers from the Dartmouth Barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 195 eastbound in Mattapoisett. Upon arrival Troopers found a 2006 Mazda 6 that had gone off the road and struck a tree.
The operator of the Mazda, a 44-year-old New Bedford woman, was determined to be deceased at the scene.
The facts and circumstances of the crash, including what caused the woman to go off the road, are under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Plymouth County.
The right lane of the highway was closed until approximately 10 a.m. to accommodate the crash response and investigation. No further information is available at this time.
