Original Story 2/16 - A 55-year-old New Bedford woman was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle crash on Route 25 in Bourne.

Massachusetts State Police report that troopers from the Bourne barracks responded to the crash at about 2:30 p.m., at Exit 3 on Route 25 West.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2004 Pontiac Aztek was traveling onto Route 25 westbound from exit 3 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle went off the right side of the road, striking a snow bank and rolling onto the roof. Other drivers stopped and began to administer CPR to the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The driver was transported by ambulance to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Bourne Fire, and Mass DOT.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
