New Bedford Woman Found Dead – Death Ruled As Homicide [UPDATE]
New Bedford Police and investigators from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office are looking into the death of a woman on North Street.
Police have ruled the death as suspicious.
Neighbors say the victim's mother came home to 68 North Street around 3pm Wednesday, and soon ran outside screaming.
One police officer described the scene inside the house as "very disturbing".
No word yet on the cause of death or a potential suspect. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
Update 3/14 8:29am - The D A's office has identified the victim as 35 year old Tiffany Ann Durfee, who lived at 68 North Street. Neighbors say the Durfee's mother came home around 3:30 pm Wednesday afternoon and ran outside screaming. One police officer described the scene inside the house as "very disturbing". An autopsy is being performed by the state medical examiners office to determine the cause of death. The D A's office says the investigation into the death is active and ongoing.
Update 3/14 3:03pm - The Bristol County District Attorney's office says investigators are treating Tiffany Ann Durfee's death as a homicide, after she was found dead inside her home Wednesday afternoon. The State Medical Examiner's office is currently performing the preliminary autopsy. The investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released at this time.
