New Bedford's vocational high school is named one of fifteen BioTeach schools in the state, with a strong focus on life sciences education.

Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech will be provided with professional development, curriculum tools, and equipment for school labs, as part of the MassBioEd Foundation's program.

Superintendent Linda Enos says a separate grant awarded to the school last year greatly improved the school's science department.

A BioTech Park, already under development in Fall River, will generate a great need for properly trained workers. Enos says that's a direction the school is headed in with new and improved life science curriculums.
