New Bedford Upskirting Suspect Arrested in Widespread Scheme
YARMOUTH - A New Bedford man arrested last year after taking photos of underneath women's skirts is arrested again on similar charges.
David Anthony Wong, 50, was arrested in August of 2017 on upskirting charges, but had been released on bail as he awaits trial.
The Yarmouth Police Department says that since his original arrest, officers have obtained several search warrants and seized multiple computers and other electronic devices connected to Wong.
Police say the investigation revealed numerous other incidents of upskirting and other secret recordings throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Police theorize Wong took the photos and recordings while working as a self-employed cleaner at hundreds of homes and businesses.
An arrest warrant was obtained, and Wong was arrested at his Bedford Street apartment in New Bedford on January 5 by members of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.
Wong was transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters where he refused to cooperate with police officers. Wong was then transferred to Falmouth District Court and arraigned on the new sex crime charges.
Wong is being held on $10,000 cash bail. The case remains active and more charges are expected.
