New Bedford Reveals 2026 Summer Sound Series Lineup: Everything You Need to Know

NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — One of the most anticipated concert lineups of the summer has just been announced, as the City of New Bedford and Mayor Jon Mitchell have revealed the bands that will perform as part of the 2026 Summer Sound Series in the city’s downtown.

The free performances will take place on Friday nights from the end of June through the beginning of September, and will feature a variety of musical genres including ska, reggae, indie, blues, rock and more.

“The Summer Sound Series is one more reason to look forward to summer in New Bedford,” Mitchell said. “The concerts and block parties energize downtown and support a variety of small businesses.”

The Summer Sound Series is organized by AHA! New Bedford.

“There is something truly magical about watching generations come together, complete with dancing in the streets! The joy and camaraderie are palpable on these summer nights,” said Kim Goddard, executive director of AHA! New Bedford. “It is such a privilege to produce the Summer Sound Series. We are so grateful for this devoted community that makes it all come alive.”

Downton New Bedford Stage Locations, Times, and Special Festival Tie-ins

The shows will take place each Friday on either the Purchase Street Stage or the Lower Union Street Stage and run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. All are weather permitting.

Some shows also tie into other New Bedford summer traditions, including the NB Roots and Branches Festival and the 3rd Eye Open annual hip hop festival. The July 3 show, which starts earlier at 6 p.m., will also be a part of the NB250 celebration honoring America’s 250th birthday, culminating with the annual fireworks display over New Bedford Harbor at 9 p.m.

Summer Sound Series Free Parking and Event Information

Free parking is available during the Summer Sound Series at the Elm Street Garage and the Zeiterion Garage.
