With New Bedford High School's level four status, the state education department calls for several actions, one of them being a Local Stakeholders Group.

The thirteen-person panel met last night to understand their role of interpreting data, and coming up with recommendations for Superintendent Dr. Pia Durkin to consider in addition to the turnaround plan.

Stakeholder and high school chemistry teacher David Buck tells WBSM News he's optimistic about the task at hand.

The group will meet weekly and discuss problems in four areas: technology, curriculum, effective instruction, and family engagement, and how they should be addressed by the Superintendent.

Final recommendations will be submitted to Dr. Durkin by November 26th.
