The Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care awarded the New Bedford Public School system and multiple New Bedford-based nonprofit organizations $1,181,136 in early education and care grants for fiscal year 2018.

The initiatives range from increasing investments in early educators’ professional development to supporting young children’s mental health.

“I congratulate New Bedford Public Schools and the many nonprofits that serve New Bedford’s youth for successfully pursuing this funding through the competitive grant process,” said State Representative Antonio F.D. Cabral (D-New Bedford). “The awards highlight the high quality of these institutions’ applications and I am confident that they will yield real, tangible results for New Bedford’s children and their families.”
