There was an accident involving a school transport vehicle Tuesday morning.

A New Bedford Police dispatcher told WBSM News the incident took place on Pamela Dr. around 7:30 a.m. after the vehicle hit a parked car.

Although medics were on the scene police say it was a minor accident.

Children were transported to St. Luke's Hospital as a precaution, but police say no serious injuries were reported.

Jonathan Carvalho, the Community Relations Manager for New Bedford Public Schools, told WBSM News that six students were onboard at the time of the accident.

Five students were from Keith Middle School and one student was from Rodman Elementary School.

Carvalho says the vehicle was most likely a van and was operated by a private company named Daniel's Bus that wasn't under contract with the school department.

However, Carvalho did say that the school department was grateful there were no serious injuries.
