New Bedford Robbery Suspect Tries Taking Register, Leaves With Nothing
NEW BEDFORD - Police are investigating after a man tried to get away with an entire cash register instead of just its contents Thursday night in New Bedford.
The clerk told police the man walked into Wessam Variety on Acushnet Avenue at 9 p.m. Thursday, pulled out a knife and demanded money. The suspect then grabbed the register and tried to take it, but ended up running out of the store without anything.
The clerk chased the suspect down Shaw Street, but lost sight of him.
A grey, older model Honda may have been used by the suspect.
