The search for two inmates who escaped from the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora at one point extended to New Bedford.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says a tip line received a call from someone who believed he saw the two convicted murders, Richard Matt and David Sweat, near Nash Rd.

Vicente says they checked with New York authorities and determined that there was no credible information to suggest the two were in the area.

However, authorities decided to conduct the search out of an abundance of caution.

"We did speak with the resident," says Vicente "a search was done in the Nash Rd. area by the railroad tracks but it ended up being fruitless."

Meanwhile New York authorities tell CNN search dogs may have picked up the scent of the two inmates a few miles from the prison.
