New Bedford Politics With Jack Spillane [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
Respected New Bedford Light columnist Jack Spillane has been writing about the city of New Bedford and its politics for many years. Now he'll be sharing some of his observations every few weeks on Townsquare Sunday.
Spillane joined me this week for a discussion about the upcoming New Bedford municipal election on November 2. We reviewed some of the key races in the city, and some of the issues that people are talking about. We also talked about some of the reasons why people are staying home, rather than going to the polls on election day.
During our discussion, Jack and I also touched on Mayor Jon Mitchell's State of the City Address, and whether the New Bedford City Council should adopt a rule to punish a councilor who may have exhibited inappropriate behavior in either his public or private life.
We also talked about the response to New Bedford Light. For those who don't know, New Bedford Light is a non-profit, online news publication with a focus on in-depth and long-form stories about the SouthCoast in general, and New Bedford in particular.
Jack Spillane will be a periodic guest on Townsquare Sunday and we're delighted to have him join us. Spillane's interview can be heard here:
