New Bedford Police Seize Gun, Drugs, Cash

Separate arrests over the holiday weekend led to firearms and drug trafficking charges, the New Bedford Police Department announced today.

On July 4, NBPD Detectives charged Jayante Arthur Antone, 23, with illegally carrying a firearm. Antone, of 7 Bannister St. Apt. 1, was apprehended in the area of 815 S. First St. It's a second offense for Antone. Police provided no further information.

On July 3, detectives seized 54 grams of cocaine and $614 at 75 Crapo St. Apt. 1 and arrested Jorge Duarte, 26, of that address. Duarte, already on pre-trial probation for firearms offenses, was charged with drug trafficking. Detective Kevin Barbosa investigated the case.

The New Bedford Police Department does not release booking photos of criminal suspects to the media or the public.
