NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police took nearly 300 grams of cocaine off the street following the arrest of a city man.

Police say that on April 26, New Bedford Police Narcotics and Gang Unit detectives seized approximately 297 grams of cocaine, digital scales and $1,675 in cash at 535 County Street, Apartment 2N.

As a result, police arrested Wyllie Monteiro, 23, of New Bedford and charged him with trafficking in cocaine.

According to police, Monteiro already had two open cases for narcotics distribution out of New Bedford Third District Court, charged in September of 2020 for distributing crack cocaine and again in March of 2021 for distribution of oxycontin.
