NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police arrest a city man and take drugs off the street after executing a search warrant.

Thursday, February 7 at about 5:02 p.m., New Bedford Police narcotics detectives executed a search warrant for a cocaine distribution service operating out of 239 Sawyer Street. The detectives, led by Det. Jordan Ferreira, discovered over 600 grams of marijuana, over 17 grams of crack cocaine, and $1900 in U.S. currency.

They arrested the occupant of apartment 4N, 37-year-old Luis Mendez, and charged him with possession to distribute a Class B drug; possession to distribute a Class B drug, subsequent offense; possession to distribute a Class D drug; possession to distribute a Class D drug, subsequent offense; and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
