Two people are facing various drug charges after a search warrant was executed by New Bedford Police Saturday.

The target of the warrant was 23-year-old Issac Lopez Jr. of 54 Query Street in New Bedford, according to department Public Information Officer Lt. Amos Melo.

Prior to the search, the NBPD Narcotics Unit observed Lopez in a drug transaction.

As police attempted to arrest Lopez, he fled in his vehicle, almost striking a detective. He was finally arrested, along with a passenger, 24-year-old Rebekah Moude Clark of 5 Edgewater St., Fairhaven, a short time later.

Police found 44 grams of Fentanyl in the car at the time of the arrest.

During the search of the home, police recovered more than $5,000 in cash along with packaging materials, cutting agents and digital scales.

Lopez is charged with distribution of a class B substance, conspiracy to violate controlled substance laws, trafficking Fentanyl, failure to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Clark is facing charges of trafficking Fentanyl and conspiracy to violate controlled substance laws.

Both defendants are set to be arraigned Monday at 3rd District Court.
