New Bedford Police: Meet-Up for Sale of Item Turns into Robbery
NEW BEDFORD — Police are investigating a reported robbery in the city's North End.
New Bedford Police received the report at 7:14 p.m. on Thursday from an individual who told police that he was meeting another person in a pre-arranged transaction for the sale of an item.
The victim told police he met the buying party at Pa Raffa's Restaurant at 2857 Acushnet Avenue. However, he said the man who expressed interest in buying the item grabbed it and fled.
Police are investigating.
Residents are reminded that if they are making arrangements to buy or sell items in private, online-based transactions, they are encouraged to utilize the parking lot of the New Bedford Police Station Headquarters on Rockdale Avenue. The parking lot is monitored by surveillance at all times and is a designated "Internet Purchase Safe Zone."
