NEW BEDFORD — Police arrest a man in New Bedford they say tried hiding drugs in his mouth.

Police were targeting drug sales in the South End late Wednesday night when they saw Wilfred Collazo, 48, of 50 Emery Street, New Bedford, engage in behavior they deemed consistent with a drug deal in the area of 131 Ruth Street.

As police went to talk with Collazo, they say he placed something in his mouth and later spit it out. Police suspected the object was a bag of cocaine.

Police arrested Collazo on a charge of possession of a Class B drug.
