New Bedford Police Investigating Three Stabbings in 25-Hour Span
NEW BEDFORD — Authorities are investigating three separate stabbings in New Bedford that took place from early Sunday morning into early Monday morning.
Early Sunday morning, New Bedford Police received a report that a man was stabbed while walking in the city’s north end.
Police say reports came in that a male had been walking in the 70-block of Covell Street at around 3:00 a.m. when he was approached by individuals who demanded money. A struggle ensued and the man suffered an apparent stab wound.
Authorities say the man’s injuries were non-life-threatening.
On Sunday night, New Bedford Police received another report of a stabbing, this time in the city’s south end.
Police say a male stated he was walking in the area of Winsor and County Streets when an individual approached him and slashed him sometime between 7:50 p.m. and 8:25 p.m.
That man, police report, also suffered non-life-threatening.
Finally, New Bedford Police say a third report came in of a stabbing on Route 18 early Monday morning.
Police received a report that a male was walking on the Route 18 overpass downtown about 4:45 a.m. when he was approached by someone who slashed him. His injuries were also non-life-threatening.
New Bedford Police are investigating all three stabbings.
