New Bedford Police are investigating a pair of street robberies on South Second Street within half an hour of each other.

Police say around 5:30 Thursday morning, a 48-year-old male told police he was walking to work near South Second and Blackmer Streets when he was physically assaulted by two black males who stole his wallet. He told police the men were between 5'5" and 5'9".

About half an hour later, a 22-year-old male reported to police he was walking on South Second St. near the Gomes School when he was approached by four hispanic-looking men who threatened him with a knife and demanded cash. When he said he didn't have any money, one of the men punched him and took the victim's phone.

Police said while the circumstances of the robberies are very similar, they're uncertain if they're connected.
