New Bedford Police Investigate ‘Shots Fired’ Report Near Latest Incident
NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police are investigating a report of shots fired Thursday evening.
Police received a report of shots fired in the area of Pope and Summer Streets just after 6:30 p.m. The city's gunshot detection system, ShotSpotter, was activated.
Investigating officers responded to the scene and did not report any injuries as a result of the reported gunshots. No damage was found. Police would not say if any evidence of gunshots, such as empty shells, was recovered at the scene.
The report of gunshots comes one night after another report of shots fired one block away at the intersection of Cottage and Locust Streets. In that incident, a second floor resident at 69 Locust Street reported damage in their home as a result of the Wednesday night shooting.
