The New Bedford Police Department is investigating two separate incidents involving gunfire in the city on Sunday.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on March 29, the police department's SpotShotter network detected gunfire near 44 Rounds Street. No evidence was found, according to police department spokeswoman Melissa Batchilder.

At around 7:47 p.m., police responded after shots rang out near the CVS pharmacy at 136 Ashley Boulevard. Police found shell casings in the CVS parking lot, Batchilder said. According to unverified reports, scanner traffic indicated that police were looking for a small red four-door sedan.

Police reported no injuries. Both incidents are under investigation, Batchilder said.
