New Bedford Police are investigating following the gunpoint theft of a dirt bike Tuesday afternoon.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says the 26-year-old Falmouth man listed his 2014 orange KTM 250SX for sale on Craigslist.

The man thought he had a buyer and brought the bike into the city when, around 3 p.m. he was robbed on the 200 block of Thompson St. by a man brandishing a black firearm.

The suspect fled and the victim tried to follow him in his vehicle but was unsuccessful.

The suspect is described as a Cape Verdean male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, between 20-30 yrs. of age, approximately 5-10 and thin build.

Vicente says there was another male at the scene who did nothing but fled as the robbery occurred.

He is described as a Cape Verdean male approximately 6ft. tall with an average build and approximately 18-30-years-of-age. He was wearing a grey sweat suit and white sneakers.
