New Bedford Police Cruiser Collides With Taxi

New Bedford Police are investigating a late night accident involving a cruiser and a taxi.

Detective Captain Steve Vicente tells WBSM News the collison occurred at the intersection of Elm and Pleasant Streets around 11pm Sunday night when the police cruiser broadsided a Star cab. Vicente says the preliminary investigation shows the driver of the cab ran a stop sign while heading west on Elm Street crossing Pleasant.

Several people were sent to the hospital as a result of the crash. Their conditions are unknown.

The crash remains under investigation.
