NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police are investigating reports of shots fired outside of downtown early Friday morning.

The Police Department confirmed that several shots were fired at Grinnell and South Second Streets before 2 a.m. Friday, but would not confirm if evidence of shell casings or any damage was discovered.

Police logs show a car and a building were damaged by gunfire.

It's unknown how many shots were fired.

Police are refusing to release any further information.
