New Bedford Police: Charges Forthcoming in Killing of Canada Goose
Charges are being filed in connection to the death of a goose in a New Bedford park.
Police say a New Bedford juvenile will be charged with cruelty to animals.
The charge stems from the killing of a Canada goose on September 1 near the duck pond at Brooklawn Park. Responding officers found the dead goose with head trauma, and a bloody rock near the goose's body.
An image with an attached story of the dead goose was shared on social media so many times, police say, that the 15-year-old boy admitted to his father that he had killed the animal. The father brought the boy to a police station where the teen reportedly confessed.
Over the weekend, a second dead goose was discovered with similar wounds.
Police say the investigation into the more recent discovery is still ongoing, and it's unclear if the geese deaths are related.
