New Bedford Police Arrest Two on Cocaine Charges
NEW BEDFORD — Two people have been arrested on cocaine charges following a search of a Purchase Street address.
On Wednesday, December 4, detectives from the New Bedford Police Narcotics Unit seized 180 grams of cocaine at a street value of $20,000 after a search of 2015 Purchase Street.
As a result of the incident, Manual B. Almeida, 40, of Apartment 2S at that address was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine in excess of 100 grams or more, possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance, distribution of a Class B substance, and conspiracy to violate drug laws. In relation to the incident, Nicole Brisson, 53, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.
The incident stemmed from detectives observing Almeida in a suspected drug transaction with Brisson. Brisson was stopped and found in possession of cocaine. Almeida was subsequently stopped and found in possession of cocaine and cash. The following search of Almeida’s residence resulted in the discovery of 180 grams of cocaine and $154 in cash.
Both were arraigned in Third District Court on Thursday.
