NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police have arrested two males in connection to last week’s shooting in the city’s West End.

Earlier today, detectives arrested two males, one a juvenile, in connection with the shooting that occurred on August 26 in the area of Chancery Street and Middle Street.

Wilber Alvarado, 18, of 60 South Second Street and a male juvenile were taken into custody by detectives as a result of the investigation. They are both charged with assault and battery by means of a firearm and additional firearm charges.

Police say as a result of the shooting, two victims sustained injuries. A juvenile male sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and a second male sustained injuries from a bullet fragment that struck him in the eye.

Alvarado and the juvenile that was arrested are both due to be arraigned today in Third District Court.
