New Bedford Police Arrest Two on Drug Charges
NEW BEDFORD — A Marion woman and a New Bedford man were arrested on Friday afternoon on drug charges after police received numerous tips from community members.
Ryan Potter, 45, of New Bedford was arrested for dealing crack cocaine, among other charges, while 40-year-old Lindsey Cerkovitz of Marion was arrested for heroin possession.
Police said that on Nov. 5 narcotics detectives staked out a 248 Field St. home due to a number of complaints from neighbors regarding suspected drug activity.
The detectives saw a car they recognized arrive at the house and according to police, as the detectives approached, the passenger tried to throw two small plastic bags out of the window.
Both baggies were later found to contain more than 30 grams of crack cocaine, police said.
Potter, the passenger, was later allegedly found to have a small amount of heroin, over $600 in cash, a digital scale, and two cell phones.
Police said he had three active arrest warrants, including one for armed robbery.
The cash was seized and Potter has been charged with cocaine trafficking, heroin possession, and resisting arrest.
Cerkovitz, who was driving the car, was found to have a small amount of heroin and an active arrest warrant.
