NEW BEDFORD — Members of the New Bedford Police narcotics unit arrested two men Wednesday as part of an investigation into street level narcotics sales in the North End.

Police stopped a vehicle following a suspected drug transaction in the 100-block of Tallman Street.

As police attempted to stop the vehicle at Bentley Street and Acushnet Avenue, the operator of the vehicle, identified as Joshua Clark, 37, of 5 Edgewater St., Fairhaven, placed the vehicle in reverse, striking a cruiser. When police stopped the vehicle, crack cocaine was found inside.

Clark was charged with failure to stop for a police officer, possession of cocaine and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

The passenger, Kyle Johnson, 28, of 101 Ward St., Acushnet, was charged with possession of cocaine and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
