New Bedford Police Arrest Seven in Latest Crime Sweep
NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police have completed another crime sweep in the city.
During the sweep, police arrested seven New Bedford residents Thursday afternoon.
The individuals range in age from 21 to 47, and face charges from operating a vehicle without a license to drug offenses. Several had outstanding warrants for their arrest.
Arrested were:
- Brent Charles Lagoa, 23, of 96 Clark Street
- Operating motor vehicle without a license
- Diana L. Costa, 59, of 276 Cottage Street
- Possession of class B (crack cocaine)
- Conspiracy to violate controlled substance laws
- Christopher Souza, 21, Homeless
- Arrest warrant
- Jose A. Garcia-Santiago, 40, of 174 Central Ave
- Operating motor vehicle without a license
- Fail to use directional signal
- Edwin Jorge, 27, of 162 Holly Street
- Arrest warrant
- Derek W. Wiggins, 45, of 171 Weld Street
- Arrest warrant
- Michelle Marie Gomes, 41, of 200 No. Front Street
- 2 Arrest warrants
Police are also seeking charges against William Grovell, 47, of 1050 Pleasant Street after police witnessed him carry out a drug transaction. He was not located after the sale.
