NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police have arrested two men they say are responsible for a total of six robberies over the past two months.

Police say the've arrested 21-year-old Isaiah Garcia, Jr., of New Bedford, and have charged him in connection to six robberies that took place between February 8 and April 5:

  • Rent A Center, 446 Dartmouth St., Feb. 8
  • Family Dollar, 160 West Rodney French Boulevard, March 18
  • Family Dollar, 139 Hathaway Road, March 29
  • Dollar General, 893 Church St., March 29
  • Sunrise Bakery, 508 Bolton St., April 4
  • Domino’s Pizza, 109 Rockdale Ave., April 5.

Detectives have also connected Garcia to robberies in Fall River, Somerset, and Seekonk. Police are still investigating Garcia, and more charges may be forthcoming against him for commercial and residential robberies in New Bedford.

New Bedford Police have also arrested 28-year-old Cesar Berroa of New Bedford, charging him with the robberies of Family Dollar and Dollar General on March 29. Berroa is also believed to be responsible for robberies in Dartmouth, Fairhaven, and Somerset. Police say more charges could be coming against Berroa, as well.

Both men were arraigned Monday in New Bedford Third District court and ordered held on $10,000 bail each.

Garcia and Berroa will return to court for pretrial hearings on May 8 and May 9, respectively.
