New Bedford Police Arrest Man Shoplifting ‘Health and Beauty’ Supplies
NEW BEDFORD - A Freetown man is arrested after he was seen shoplifting by a New Bedford police officer.
The New Bedford Police Department says Officer Michael Alers was working a security detail in the Dartmouth Street Stop & Shop in the South End at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday when he noticed a man taking items from the shelves. The suspect was questioned and Officer Alers found 24 health and beauty items the man had tried to conceal.
Police arrested the man, 34-year-old Michael DiPaola of Freetown, and charged him with shoplifting over $100. DiPaola also had five outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was arrested in New Bedford for an attempted purse snatching in 2013.
