
New Bedford Police Arrest Brockton Man for Dealing Fentanyl
NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford police have arrested a wanted Brockton man at Clasky Common Park after detectives allegedly found a large number of fentanyl pills on him.
Police said on Friday, detectives from the organized crime intelligence bureau saw 48-year-old Brockton resident Julio Pires on Pope Street and North Oak Street.
Pires had an active arrest warrant, according to police.

While taking him into custody, Detectives Kevin Barbosa and Timothy Soares allegedly found four plastic bags that contained more than 135 grams of fentanyl pills.
They also found $865 in cash, which was seized as proceeds from illicit drug dealing.
Police said Pires has an "extensive arrest history" that includes prior convictions on drug-related charges.
