NEW BEDFORD - A sales transaction got off on the wrong foot in New Bedford as a 23-year-old man is robbed of a sneaker.

The victim told police he made arrangements on Facebook to meet a man at Hazelwood Park to sell a pair of Nike Air Jordan sneakers.

The man was approached by two men in the park, and when the victim pulled out one of the shoes to display to the men, one of the two men pulled out what looked like a handgun and fled with the sneaker.

The suspects are described as a black male with curly hair and a heavyset Hispanic male. Anyone with information is asked to call New Bedford Police at 508-991-6350, the anonymous tip line at 508-992-7463, or email tip@newbedfordpd.com.

Police remind residents that the parking lot of the department's headquarters on Rockdale Avenue is a designated safe internet transaction zone.
