New Bedford Man With Long Criminal History Held on Drug Charges
NEW BEDFORD — Members of the New Bedford Police gang and narcotics division took more than 24 grams of heroin off the street and arrested a man Wednesday following an investigation into a heroin distribution service operated out of 297 Coffin Ave., Apt. 1 East.
Edwin Cabezuedo, 45, of that address was arrested on charges of possession of class A substance with intent to distribute, subsequent offense, and trafficking in heroin over 18 grams.
Police executed a search warrant at the location and found 24.5 grams of heroin, digital scale, packaging materials and $1,238.
Cabezuedo has a lengthy criminal history involving narcotics. He was found guilty in 2010 of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within a school zone and was sentenced to serve two years in prison.
He was also found guilty in 2009 of distribution of a class B substance with intent to distribute and was sentenced to serve one year in prison. In 2003, he was sentenced to serve two years in prison for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
He is being held without bail, pending a dangerousness hearing Dec. 20.
