New Bedford Teen Found Murdered on Clasky Common
(Updated 18:31 July 27) — The victim has been identified as Rayshard Normil-Jerome, 18, of New Bedford.
NEW BEDFORD — Police are investigating a murder after an 18-year-old New Bedford youth was found stabbed in Clasky Common Park early this morning.
A woman alerted a state trooper on patrol nearby that a man was lying unresponsive in the park at around 1:24 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
The trooper found the man suffering from multiple stab wounds.
An ambulance from New Bedford EMS was dispatched to the scene.
Paramedics assessed the victim before taking him to the emergency department at St. Luke's Hospital.
But the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead just after 2 a.m.
He will not be identified until the next of kin is notified, the D.A.'s office stated.
Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, New Bedford Police, and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating the homicide.
