BOSTON – A New Bedford resident pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Boston to illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition while being a convicted felon.

Victor Morales, 35, of New Bedford admitted to owning a Colt Mustang .380 pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition, which the U.S. Attorney's Office said he had in his apartment on or around July 20, 2020.

Federal law prohibits Morales from possessing a firearm or ammunition due to a prior felony conviction.
