New Bedford Man Admits to Felony Firearm Charges
BOSTON – A New Bedford resident pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Boston to illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition while being a convicted felon.
Victor Morales, 35, of New Bedford admitted to owning a Colt Mustang .380 pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition, which the U.S. Attorney's Office said he had in his apartment on or around July 20, 2020.
Federal law prohibits Morales from possessing a firearm or ammunition due to a prior felony conviction.

The maximum sentence is up to 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
Morales was indicted on the charges by a federal grand jury in November 2020.
He is expected to be sentenced on Sept. 10, 2021.
