New Bedford Man Facing Stolen Vehicle Charges

One man is under arrest and two suspects remain at large after a stolen car was spotted in New Bedford Saturday night.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says the 2014 Honda Accord, which had been reported stolen in Medford earlier in the day, was spotted around 9:30 p.m. traveling south on Route 18.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle and a chase ensued that ended on County St., near the intersection of Summer St. and Mill St.,

All three occupants then jumped out of the car, with the vehicle still in drive, and fled on foot.

One suspect, identified as 21-year-old Erick Amado of New Bedford was taken into custody.

Amado was scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning in New Bedford district court on possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

A male and female suspect remain at large and police are working to identify them.
