New Bedford Man Faces 7-9 Years In State Prison
A 49 year old New Bedford man has been sentenced to seven to nine years in state prison after being found guilty of breaking into a New Bedford home.
Robert Simmons entered a guilty plea on Tuesday in Fall River Superior Court, admitting to carrying out a house break on Church Street on March 31st of this year and taking watches and jewelry.
The District Attorney's Office says Simmons has a history of breaking into homes and stealing from people, and has been committed to jail at least ten times in the past.
"It's a sad commentary that at the age of 49, Simmons continues to engage in this behavior," D-A Thomas Quinn said. "The only alternative is to once again put him in state prison for a long time."
