NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man is dead after suffering an apparent overdose in his home, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office says.

New Bedford Police and other emergency personnel responded to an Arnold Street home at about 2:30 p.m. on Monday to a report of an unresponsive male.

A spokesman for the Bristol County District Attorney's Office says the 33-year-old male was found dead in his bedroom by family members. Authorities found crushed pills and a rolled dollar bill near the man's body.

While the death appears to be the result of a drug overdose, says the DA spokesman, a toxicology is pending to determine the exact cause of death.
